Dr MariLiza Koukouli received her D.Phil. in Atmospheric Physics from the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics sub-Department of the University of Oxford, U.K., in March 2003, before moving to a Marie-Curie Fellowship in the Solar System Department of the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalucía, Spain, up to 2004. Since her integration as researcher in the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2005, MariLiza has participated in numerous research projects within the field of atmospheric science based on monitoring of both the gaseous and particulate matter content of the atmosphere from satellite and ground-based instrumentation. Dr. Koukouli has a long track record of analysis and validation of satellite atmospheric observations, inter-comparison of satellite and ground-based measurements, evaluation of model fields against Earth observational datasets and the identification of emission sources previously un-detected as well as emission inventory calculations. She has participated as a postdoctoral researcher in many national and European projects funded by the EU, ESA and EUMETSAT and has co-authored more than 80 articles in international peer-reviewed journals with a total citation count of 2100 and h-index 29. Dr. Koukouli has a long experience in teaching at postgraduate level at both the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Hellenic Open University, teaching courses such as Satellite Remote Sensing, Computational Environmental Tools and Air Pollutant Management, while she has supervised more than 10 postgraduate diploma theses.
