All admission conditions and procedures for awarding points to applications are indicated at:

(a) Articles 4 and 5 of the Internal Regulation of Operation of the PPS and

(b) the annual invitation announced by the School of Physics at the end of May or beginning of June.

Here are some key points of the regulation:

1. The number and categories of graduates admitted

The number of students admitted to the MSc “Physics of Atmospheric Environment and Global Changes” is set at a maximum of ten (10) per year.

The Postgraduate Program is open to holders of first-cycle degrees of Greek Universities Schools and equivalent foreign institutions recognized by the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic Qualifications and Information (D.O.A.T.A.P.), in accordance with article 304 of Law 4957/2022, and in particular:

  1. Graduates of (a) Schools of Sciences, (b) Schools of Engineering, (c) Schools of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment, and (d) Schools of Environment.
  2. Graduates of the Hellenic Air Force Academy.
  3. Holders of first cycle degrees of domestic and equivalent foreign institutions, with a program of study related or partially related to that of the Postgraduate Program, according to what is mentioned in the annual announcement for the admission of students to the Postgraduate Program published on the websites of the School of Physics and the Postgraduate Program.

2. Admission requirements

Candidates must have passed all the courses of their educational program and must provide a transcript of grades including the degree grade, which must be at least SIX (6.0/10).

Also, candidates must have sufficient knowledge of English (at least B2 level), while foreign candidates must have sufficient knowledge of the Greek language. Candidates who do not hold valid certificates of good knowledge of English (at least B2 level) are required to take an examination of their ability to translate scientific texts fluently, which is conducted by the School of Physics during the entrance examination period that follows the period applications for admission. The same applies to foreign candidates who, if they do not hold valid certificates of good knowledge of the Greek language, are required to take an examination of their ability to adequately understand it.

The selection criteria for postgraduate students of the MSc “Physics of Atmospheric Environment and Global Changes” are:

  • Grade of first cycle degree or diploma
  • The time of obtaining the first cycle degree in relation to the minimum required
  • Transcript of grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant to the Postgraduate Program
  • Performance in the undergraduate thesis (relevant to the field of the MSc), where this is provided for in the first cycle of studies.
  • Other qualifications, such as letters of recommendation, publications, papers, other degrees, relevant professional experience, interview by the three-member Selection and Examination Committee, etc.

For candidates who are graduates of Schools, whose curriculum does not contain courses related to the subject of the Postgraduate Program, or for cases of candidates who are graduates of Schools of a related subject which are not explicitly mentioned in the announcement (announced by the School of Physics at the end of May or beginning of June each year), the three-member Selection and Examination Committee is responsible for judging the adequacy of the relevance of their studies. Candidates who are judged to be graduates of insufficiently relevant Schools, must participate in examinations of courses defined by the Assembly of the School of Physics and mentioned in the announcement.

These special examinations are a pre-stage in the admission process. Only in case of success (grades above base in all 3 subjects), the candidate is considered a co-candidate with the rest of the candidates. Candidates for whom the Selection and Examination Committee decided to undergo an examination of the above courses will be informed by e-mail to the email address they stated when submitting the application.

3. Application

The applications are submitted electronically at the beginning of September each year (see the annual call for interest for details).

The applications are submitted via the following address: https://www.physics.auth.gr/msc_applications

With the application, candidates must also submit:

  1. A detailed CV,
