The primary field of expertise of Dr. Christos Giannaros is atmospheric numerical modeling. He has vast experience (> 10 years) in using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model for multiple applications related to: (a) mesoscale meteorology and climatology (WRF), (b) urban meteorology (WRF-UCM and WRF-BEP/BEM), (c) data assimilation (WRF-DA), (d) hydrometeorology (WRF-Hydro), and (e) air quality (WRF-Chem, WRF-NEMO/CAMx and WRF-FLEXPART). A significant part of his research focuses also on human-biometeorology, aiming at investigating the effects of the environment on human health. He has been/is the Principal Investigator of the research projects (i) CyFFORS, 2020-2021 (Funding Authority: Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation through the program “DIDAKTOR” RESTART 2016-2020), and (ii) HEAT-ALARM, 2023-present (Funding Authority: Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation in the context of the Action “3d Call for H.F.R.I.
