Assistant Professor Charikleia Meleti has been a member of the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics (LAP) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) Physics Department since 1990 as a PhD Candidate and then as Post-Doctoral Research Assistant. Since the early 2000s, she has been teaching numerous courses related to Atmospheric Physics in the undergraduate as well as the graduate program of Master’s in Environmental Physics of the School of Physics. She has in the past, or is currently, supervising 5 PhD candidates, 12 MSc theses as well as 18 undergraduate diploma theses of the AUTH Physics Department.
She has been actively involved in atmospheric scientific research for more than 30 years. Her traditional research interests include the radiative transfer of solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation in the atmosphere, the physics and variations of stratospheric ozone, as well as the physical and chemical processes related to climate change. In the last ten years, her research focus has shifted toward air quality-related topics, as shown in the list of her recent scientific projects co-ordination and participation below, following the increasing international need for better quantification of particulate and gaseous pollution over urban areas.
Her contribution to experimental research includes the monitoring of UV radiation, ozone, as well as other important trace gasses and aerosol optical properties with Brewer spectrophotometers, multi-filter NILU-UV and broadband radiometers, pyranometers, DOAS/MAX-DOAS techniques, among others.
Ass. Prof. Meleti has participated in more than 40 research projects, and as principal investigator in 3 international and national funded projects. She has co-authored 55 articles in peer-reviewed journals, cited by 1,683 documents with an h-index of 26 (source: Scopus). Her complete up-to-date curriculum vitae may be accessed here.
